Heritage Football

I still think Heritage will be a better team under Coach R. I stand on my thoughts that they will beat WB in a shocker and maybe even Alcoa. As for Maryville, I expect Maryville will run the regular season table given better QB and Secondary play. These areas were somewhat inconsistent last year. I stopped by Heritage today and I don’t think they have that much size for a 5A team. They do have some speed and two of the QB's had some good throws. I do wish them luck this season.

I don't mean to be rude but Heritage just doesn't have the talent to play with the rest of the county. They've had almost more new coaches than Alcoa, but they just can't seem to get on a winning track. In 2000 I thought heritage would go pretty far, but they let me down. Maybe this year they can make the playoffs and start a winning tradition. Good luck, they'll need it!! ;)

you beat them all up and down the field....but who cares you still blew it. in the books it doesn't say that you beat them up and down the feild, but does the same thing as every other game which is an L. samething with Alcoa, my gosh driving down he field and your QB dropped the snap. and it was like Heritage just was like well, it happend again, oh well. time for a Heritage player to step in? yoiu guys haven't stepped up in years. so before you guys get on here and scream play-offs, wait till you guys get a coulpe of wins under yalls belt.

Alright time for a HHS player to step in. Head busta im a upcoming senoir and the middle school team your talking about that i played on went 7-2. 1st year as a school, please explain to me how we were the worst team in histor. I allready know how, you cant. Rebal raider, we took WB to the cleaners last year but couldnt get a break. with that i would also like to point that in ALMOST every game last season we whipped the other team up and down the field, but they always go the lucky breaks.

We have the entire offensive core GCG coming back and we have 2 tackles coming back that started at the beginning but went out with injury. Coach Rewis knows what he is getting into and he LOVES it. I just cant wait until season starts.

the fact that you are an hhs player means nothing because that just means you are gonna think your team is the best thing since sliced bread. did you guys even win a game last year? you can take whoever you want to the cleaners but if you still dont get that mark in the win column its worhtless. win some games, then come back on here and talk

To the HHS players out there who are reading this. First, I miss coaching and being with you guys. Second, please do not get into petty arguments on the internet. You guys have fought and come a long way. Coach Corum did a great job last season putting you guys in positions to win ball games. Now, with the new coach, you guys have an opportunity to now win ball games. I have always believed that HHS can win ball games, and we did in '99 and '00. The Rebel and Tornado fans remember those years, because it was great football for all schools and the county as a whole. Actions speak louder than words and written messages on the internet. Good luck guys.

Maryville doesn't have much more talent than HHS does. I know this for a fact I have played with Maryville all my life ive practiced and played games with them. They just got there mind right, If Heritage can go out there and know there gonna win they will win some games. I have a lot of respect for Maryville but no one needs to get on here and say Heritage has no talent.

First off, I'm not a heritage fan at all. I was just trying to give them a little confidence you know? As far as the talent at heritage, I wouldn't say that they have as much talent as maryville. I've played against both teams for years, and I'd have to say that is not true at all.

Hello CoachDG

As a Maryville fan it would be crazy to overlook Heritage. I have seen several times when I thought Heritage wouldn't be very good and they would turn around and whip Maryville. I thought in 1982,1987,1990 and 1999 that Maryville would kill Heritage. Heritage whipped Maryville those years.

If Tommy Rewis gets those kids to come out at Heritage then Heritage will be a handful for anyone.

alright first off i wanna kno if rebelraider or headbusta play football and if not do u play anything? if you do whats your number because it seems to me like your the type of kids that will yell from the student section and wish that you could even make the team. Bottom line you cant talk trash if your sittin in the student section at least some people are out there even if they're losing

rebelraider i never said i think we're the best team since sliced bread and yes we did win a game last season. None of us have gotten on here screamin playoffs either and i said step in not step up, theres a difference, so stop puttin words in our mouths. were not the ones trash talking. a transfer from maryville made a coment on how much btr he thinks we are this year and you and headbusta3 get on here and start talking trash. i have the action to back up my words. and headbusta it wasnt entirely our QB's fault on ALCOA's haftime score, our center was playing with a fractured thumb and had a splint. know the facts or dont say anything at all

    • Lol! I was being a bit facetious.
    • Way late on this post, but I do believe that I want to at least weight in so to speak lol. I wrestled NAIA competed against some of the best wrestler over all a crossed the divisions and felt great about my college wrestling experience. I think people make the mistake in believe that wrestling some how gets easier as a sport at the smaller college divisions it doesn't the training is mostly the same. I have that on good authority from a coach who was a D1 all-American. it's more the commitment level of the competitors that is different. There is talented wrestlers that can go D1 at any level in the smaller division. sub in Sammy Shires for one he would have done fine on a DI team. He chose a work life ratio that suited him. It's not about talent it's commitment are you going to make training and studying the sport the center of your world cause that's what it takes: NO MATTER HOW TALATENTED BEFORE HAND YOU ARE.  If so then D1 is for you and striving for success at that level is for you like Mr. Palmer said it's what your willing to put in. Now coaches if you have a successful wrestler who fits that bill then by all means D1 is a great option they will see some success no matter how small, but if they are not that committed along with being talented and a killer and you know it then your doing them wrong.  You don't have to tell athletes that you don't think they are D1 tell them to keep their options open to take all their visits to consider all the divisions regardless of their goals. college recruiting visits have you most times wrestle against their current wrestlers coaches and athletes  will find out real quick it's not easy no matter where you go. That way when they make their decision it's a sound one that's based on well rounded experiences.     BobCorker, and oceansize42 I believe what you are thinking is correct but for different reasons. TN wrestler's have the talent... it's a commitment level change. TN wrestlers aren't used to having to put themselves through the level of commitment required and kills them on the D1 level.    WrestlingGod, I agree you should push kids to pursue their dreams, but not at the cost of common sense period... we have to much of that going around this country already. Dreams can turn to poison when these wrestler are not educated on what it truly takes. In TN  a kid who understands wrestling to a high level can be successful with small amounts of hard work. They think their definition of hard work is enough for D1 that is the mistake not the "talent/understanding".  Over-all though we do not celebrate NAIA,D2,D3, or Juco success in this state like other states do. GA/AL celebrates all it's college wrestlers success a crossed the  board no matter the division. Why? because it's hard... I have gone to all the divisions National championships let me tell you to be a all-American at any is impressive especially D2 or NAIA. those guys can scrap and not one of those AA's are an easy match. all of them were state placers or champs multiple times in their high school careers. does that at all sound easy to place at? TN does not give those guys enough credit or shout outs period. it's an over sight because of this D1 or it's less than meaningless   mentality on this site and in this state. GA/AL is better then us on the highest stage because they send guys to D2,NAIA,D3 ect. they come back understanding the sport better then their pervious coaches, and give back and that cycles to athletes readiness to go D1 with clearer understanding of what it takes to be competitive day 1 freshman year.             My post isn't to support one way or the other but to just consider that both sides have merit and that both work when the system in TN. by system I mean coaches are the better educated on preparing athletes for each level they want and should pursue.
