Re: Predators Fan Support Rally

On January 1st 2005, fans of the Nashville Predators will gather in front of the Gaylord Entertainment Center (GEC) at 1 PM to show support of our team. In the past, the Predators play a traditional New Years Day home game against a top NHL team but this year, it will not happen due to the current lockout by the NHL and the NHLPA over the CBA agreement.

The purpose of the rally is not only let the Predators know that we still support them and we'll return to the GEC when a new CBA agreement has been reached but also send a message to the NHL, NHLPA, Gary Bettman, and Bob Goodenow that the fans are being left behind while both organizations are currently in deadlock. Since the lockout has begun, businesses, bars, shops, etc. in downtown Nashville have been losing money each day/night, when the Predators were scheduled to play at the GEC. We (as fans) feel that any "negative" impact during this lockout (from games not playing to frustrated fans boycotting/not coming back) will hurt the Predators organization, downtown businesses, as well as the reputation that Nashville has the most loyal and loudest fans in the National Hockey League. The Predators have done great things promoting the team and the sport of hockey for this city and we believe the lockout will "overshadow" what they have accomplished the longer this continues.

The rally will begin at 1 PM in front of the Gaylord Entertainment Center, located on Broadway at the Main Entrance, and will last until 3 PM. Fans are encouraged to come out, bring their signs and noisemakers to let the NHL and NHLPA know that the lockout needs to end and we want hockey back in Nashville as well as to let the Predators know that they still have the greatest fans in Music City USA. The more fans attend this rally.....the louder we'll send that message!!
