Matthew Tant declares

I'm a big Harpeth fan and I think the world of Matthew Tant, but what's up with this? Either he's got his degree and is tired of Vandy's losing ways and wants to move on one way or the other, or he doesn't have his degree and doesn't think he's gonna get it next year and is tired of Vandy's losing ways. Remember when Brad Gaines declared? All it got him was the annual ESPN story on Chuckie Mullins. I wish Matthew would've stayed one more year. It couldn't hurt. What about you guys?

I'm shocked by this news. I played against Tant in high school a few times and thought he was a good back and I knew he would be a decent back at Vandy but I never imagined him going pro. I think this is a terrible decision for him, if he has already recieved his degree he should stay and play his last year to help raise his stock if he has any dream of the NFL. I seriously doubt anybody outside of the state of Tennessee has ever heard of Matt Tant. What happened to the other RB Harpeth had Tant's Senior year, I want to say his name was Ewing or something like that, he was pretty good also.

I just searched the Vandy website and there are no results for Matt Tant so he probably isn't attending school anymore.

    • If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
    • The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
    • Yeah it will take the county kids in that area that were going to lenior city. They will move down to 4a I think
