I would say they are going with the same expetations as everyone else, win it. When you have a program that is as rich as Oneidas, I don't think the expectations ever change. I'm sure they feel they have just as good a chance of winning it as all the other teams in it. You can probably park that question dude, because their post-season aspirations won't ever change.

There's not a team in Wartburg next week who isn't going down there thinking they can win the district championship. But from the viewpoint of an unbiased (yeah, right) observer, I think they're going to fare quite well. They're playing some of their best ball of the season right now, a lackluster performance at Harriman Monday evening withstanding. Assuming they get by the first round game against Harriman, they'll probably have their biggest challenge of the tournament against Coalfield in the semifinal round Tuesday. The Lady Indians have struggled with Coalfield this season. But I expect that Coach West and Coach Marcum probably have made a few adjustments and the Lady Indians will be ready to roll.

2 great match-ups are scheduled to take place at Dallas Davis Gymnasium Tuesday evening my friends.

1 Wartburg vs 4 Rockwood

2 Coalfield vs 3 Oneida

I know, I know... Wart & Coal swept their respective season series' but... I'll take Oneida to improve to 1-2 against Coal (ever heard the old saying the 3rd times the charm??) and Wartburg to improve to 3-0 against Rockwood (mental thing or block)!!

Well, I'll chime in my two cents worth. Everyone left has a legitimate shot at this years title. Rockwood is certainly the underdog here, by seeding alone, but they also have the inevitable task of facing the top seed on their own floor. That double dose of "misfortune" will be hard for them to over come. I'll take Wartburg by 8 in that one. Coalfield-Oneida will be a closer contest because both teams have formitable line-ups. The Lady Indians present a tough defense that will challenge the Yellow Jacket shooters into being selective with their offensive chances. The options are much more diverse for Coalfields defense because Oneida has more scorers throughout their line-up. Oneida is very athletic, as is Coalfield, but I think the Lady Indians have more juice in their defense. If this game rests on each teams ability to make stops at key times in the ballgame, then the pick here is Oneida by 6.

In the championship game, the same set of circumstances will face the Lady Bulldogs. Oneida's offensive diversity will make Wartburg's defense guard everyone on the court equally, leave someone alone and the Lady Indian Shooters will knock down open looks. Wartburg has terrific players with the ability to score, they just don't have as many as Oneida. Still, being in your own gym with the home crowd will only help the Lady Bulldogs cause. Wartburg hasn't been able to figure out Oneida yet, so until that happens, the edge should still be to the group up North. In a great game, Oneida by 7!

Good luck to all the teams in this District, as these 4 teams will all move on to the Region. Special shout out to Coach West and the girls, who hold the #1 slot in Kazam's Place! Make me out to be a genius!

I have to say this because of that saying 'it's hard to beat a team 3 times', well it can be done...Coalfield has done it before when they won the tourney in 2002 and I have no doubt in my mind that they can do it again. Carmen has a way of putting a fire in her players....good luck lady jackets!

Who did they beat 3 times that year? They split with Oneida in the regular season and didn't play them in the tournament until the Region Championship and lost.

Your respected in my book, BigD! Some people take my posts as pot shots toward their teams. Do I root for a particular team (Oneida), sure, but doesn't everyone that gets on here. I'd like to think that sometimes there might be some truth to my posts, and not just following my "heart". Take for instance in the boys tournament, as much as I would like for the Oneida Boys to win, I really don't think the odds are high of that occuring. If I had to go to Vegas and put money down, I'd put it on Wartburg(homecourt, hot team, tough defenders, excellent offensive scheme) Peace, Kaz!

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
