1.51 a very competitive 800m time nationally at the high school level. Even at the college level 1.51 would definitely win many races. You're not going to find many distance runners that can hit 1.51. I'm not saying it's impossible, but typically when you get down that low it's 400m runners who have moved up in distance. A really really fast time for a distance runner in the 800m would be 1.54. I would say that would be the equivilent to 4.17 1600m.

I would say it's more like a 4:25 1600m.

A 1:54 equates to a 4:13 mile or 4:11 1600 according to Jack Daniels.

And who is going to aruge with Jack Daniels????

I was thinking the 4:17 sounded right, but I'll buy that. Our last guy who ran a 4:25 also ran a 1:58. We've never had a 1:54 or a 4:11, that's for sure. That sounds about right when you think about Bumbi as well.

I think you've got to take that 800m conversion to 1600 with a grain of salt. We've had plenty of sub 1:54 800m runners, e.i. Chuilli, who couldnt go 4:11. McGrath ran 1:48 but went 4:05. Then you've got Bumbi who ran 4:06 last year but only ran 1:54. It completely depends on the runner. Matt Hudson ran 1:55 last year and was like 4:37 for 1600 in a meet.
