Greg Brown left the University of Colorado’s staff to become Arizona’s co-defensive coordinator last December. Now, he’s brought one of the area’s prized football recruits with him.

Denver East’s Ezekiel Bishop committed to Arizona this morning, and he said his relationship with Brown was the primary reason.

“For him to transition to a different school and still recruit me, I thought that was pretty special,” Bishop said today.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Bishop was all over the field for East last season, playing linebacker, nickelback, running back and fullback for the Angels. He had 111 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception.

Bishop said he’ll be a defensive back at Arizona, which went 8-5 last season and made an appearance in the Holiday Bowl.

“They’re a great team,” Bishop said. “And the Pac-10, I feel like, is a great (conference).”

Bishop, a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, also had offers from CU, Colorado State, Arizona State, Kansas State, Portland State and Wyoming.

Bishop will play his senior season under Ron McFarland, who took over as interim coach after Ron Woolfork took the head job at Overland.

“Nothing’s really changed,” Bishop said. “We’re still doing a lot of the same stuff.”
