Sandalwood runs off 40 unanswered points in rout of rival Mandarin

District 1-8A: Sandalwood 40, Mandarin 10

Star of the game: Sandalwood quarterback Parker Boehme passed for 196 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 71 in the first half as the Saints built a 40-3 lead and cruised past host Mandarin (0-6, 0-2) in a District 1-8A game.

Turning point: Trailing 3-0 and facing a fourth down late in the first quarter, Boehme threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Eric McFarlin. The Saints (5-1, 1-1) scored 40 points in a row, which included Boehme's touchdown passes to Tre Alipio (29 yards), Javon Griffin (20 yards) and Glenn McNeil (34 yards).

On defense: Saints defensive tackle Donald Heffner intercepted a screen pass by Brandon Luke and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown only 56 seconds after the Saints had taken the lead.

Fast facts: Saints running back Tyrell Washington carried 10 times for 70 yards, including 14 for a touchdown on the last play of the first half. ... McFarlin caught six of Boehme's passes for 95 yards. ... Sandalwood was penalized 16 times for 132 yards.
