Local: Ponte Vedra, Nease lead way at swimming regionals

At the Region 1-2A swim meet at St. Augustine, the Nease girls team finished fourth and the Ponte Vedra boys second to lead the county.

On the girls side, Creekside was fifth, Ponte Vedra 10th, Bartram Trail 16th, St. Augustine 21st and Menendez 24th.

For the boys, Nease was seventh, Bartram eighth, Creekside 14th and St. Augustine 22nd.

Individually for Creekside, Evan Jacob finished second in the 200 IM (1:55.88), first in the 200 and second in the 100 butterfly (52.35).

Meghan Haila placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:03.91) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.77). The 400-freestyle relay team of Danielle Gordon, Natalia Veray, Devin Floyd and Haila finished second (3:43.33).

For Ponte Vedra, the 200-medley relay team of Sean Kohn, Brian Deegan, David Relihan and Jackson Frazier was fourth (1:42.03). Frazier was also fifth in the 50 freestyle (22.40) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (48.73). Relihan ended fourth in the 100 butterfly (53.22). Joseph Paul was second in the 500 freestyle (4:47.88).

The 200-freestyle relay team of Melissa Kochran, Katie Dalton, Camille Clarson and Hannah Santillo was fourth (1:43.58).

The 400-freestyle relay team of Frazier, Relihan, Paul and Kohn was third (3:19.52).

For Bartram, Julianna Pettinger was fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.91) and fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.52).

Jordan Chin was fifth in 1-meter diving (355.90). Simon Van Hees finished third in the 100 backstroke (59.34).

For Nease, the 200-medley relay team of Rebecca Crosby, Hannah Smith, Marie Mendizabal and Alyssa Pivniouk was fourth (1:54.82). The 200-freestyle relay team of Pivniouk, Kristia Hoffman, Crosby and Smith was fifth (1:43.58).

The 200-freestyle team of Christian Pineiro-Munoz, Anthony Yin, Jeffrey Thomas and Anthony Janocko was fifth (1:32.20). The same team was also fifth in the 400 relay (3:20.60).

Also, in the Region 1-1A tournament, St. Joseph's Dominic Garofalo finished eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:21.05).
