Yulee running back Derrick Henry became the latest local player to commit to playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl next January.

Henry, a junior who has verbally committed to Georgia, pledged to the game on Monday. He's the fifth player from Northeast Florida to commit to playing in the exclusive high school all-star event.

"It's surreal you could say, I watch it every time it comes on (TV)," said Henry, a three-time All-First Coast selection and the area's all-time career rushing leader. "I just heard a lot of guys from the area have committed (to play). It'll be nice to get a chance to play in a game like that."

The area's other invites - First Coast linebacker Daniel McMillian, Trinity Christian defensive back Nick Washington, Columbia offensive lineman Laremy Tunsill and Bishop Kenny's Ahmad Fulwood - were among the first 20 players to be announced last weekend. Those players are expected to be among the nation's most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2013.

Henry broke former Fletcher running back Ciatrick Fason's record of 7,479 yards, set between 1998-2001. Henry will open his senior season with 7,820 rushing yards.
