Local: Bartram girls win district title

Bartram Trail wrapped up a girls basketball District 5-5A championship Friday with a 51-28 victory over Creekside.

Sarah Ragland had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears (19-6). Melissa Coggins added eight points and eight rebounds.

Bartram will be at home for the regional quarterfinals Thursday against North Marion.

Creekside (14-13) will travel to face Palatka.

The Knights were led by Jeanie Verderese, who scored seven.

District 3-3A, PK Yonge 74, St. Joe 55: The Flashes finished second in the district tournament with Friday’s loss. Heather Volk led St. Joe (14-10) with 22 points. Nicole Sarris and Jackie George each added 11.

The Flashes will open the Class 3A playoffs Thursday on the road against the winner of Saturday’s Father Lopez-Master’s Academy matchup.

Boys basketball

St. Augustine finished its regular season with a 76-59 victory over Menendez. Leading the Yellow Jackets (16-8) was BJ Esguerra with 19 points. Richard Bryson added 16 points, and Lionel Robinson finished with 14.

For Menendez, Dee Flagler scored 15 points. Dakota Dodson hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Tityus Mitchell added 10 points.

St. Joe 49, Keystone Heights 28: Matheus Menezes scored 15 points to lead St. Joe (15-9) to a big win in its regular season finale. Oscar Williams and Jacob Gaetanos each scored seven points.
