Annie Buchanan became Flagler Palm Coast's third individual state girls' weightlifting champion Saturday, with a 450-pound total.

A pair of Volusia-Flagler athletes added their names to the area's long list of girls' weightlifting state champions Saturday afternoon.

Flagler Palm Coast's Annie Buchanan dominated as expected in the Class 3A 199-pound division, completing all six lift attempts and posting a meet-best 450 total (235 bench, 215 clean and jerk).

Daisha Jarvis, New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach's Daisha Jarvis also topped the podium in Class 2A's 169-pound division with a 375 total, aided by an impressive 195 in the clean and jerk.

Since the Florida High School Athletic Association began sanctioning girls' weightlifting state competitions in 2003-04, Volusia-Flagler competitors have combined for 50 individual gold medals.

Jarvis became New Smyrna's seventh state champion, and Buchanan is the third from FPC — joining, among others, her older sister Lexi, a heavyweight winner in 2018.

New Smyrna Beach scored the best team finish of any local program, placing sixth with 12 points. Isabella Fortin secured a runner-up spot in the 2A 199 class with a 330 total.

FPC tied for seventh in Class 3A, boosted by Aryanna Rosa's fifth-place showing in the 110 division.

Sofia Cianfarra (fourth in 101) and Genevieve Frangoulis (fifth in 129) scored points for Spruce Creek, while Amarise Rodriguez (sixth in 101) became the first lifter from University to stand on the podium at the state finals.

On Friday, five of the six Class 1A qualifiers earned top-10 finishes, including podium spots for Father Lopez's Flynn Baliton (fifth in 139) and Atlantic's Raven Barnes (sixth in 129).
