Prep Roundup: Forest girls lacrosse routs South Lake

Madi Chandler scored eight goals to help lead the Forest girls lacrosse team to a 16-2 win over Groveland South Lake on Wednesday night at Forest High School. 

Emma Gamboa (3 goals, 1 assist), Ashlyn Mills (3 goals), Nicole Souza (2 goals, 1 assist), and Journee Martin (2 assists) also contributed to the Wildcats' offensive onslaught in the win over the visiting Eagles.

Forest goalie Realyn Boutwell had 10 saves on 10 shots in the first half of Wednesday's win.

Forest (2-0, 1-0 in District 2-2A) hosts Palm Coast Matanzas on Thursday at 7 p.m.

SOFTBALL

Gainesville Buchholz 13, North Marion 11: At North Marion, Brooke Kinsey went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Lilli Rosario drove in five runs and finished 2-for-4 with a double as the Colts came up short against the visiting Buchholz Bobcats. 

North Marion's Annalise Hernandez finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base and Hope Bennett went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Colts (2-2) travel to Vanguard on Thursday night for a 6 p.m. first pitch.

GIRLS TENNIS

Forest 6, Lake Weir 1: At Coehadjoe Park, Taylor Martinelli and Reigan Robinson each won their singles matches, 8-0, for the Wildcats.

Singles: No. 1: Taylor Martinelli (FHS) defeated Jessica Tureillo, 8-0. No. 2: Reigan Robinson (FHS) def. Alexis Brown, 8-0. No. 3: Kirestin Leblond (LW) def. Ryleigh Hickman, 8-5. No. 4: Cailey Camp (FHS) def. Isbel Ohlinger, 8-2. No. 5: Forest wins by forfeit. 

Doubles: No. 1: Emily Mailhiot/Harper Saucer (FHS) defeated Tureillo/Brown, 8-1. No. 2: Forest wins by forfeit.

Forest (5-1) plays at Dunnellon on Thursday at 4 p.m.
