Jensen Beach baseball rallies late to upend Lincoln Park Academy

Jensen Beach 6, Lincoln Park Academy 5 (8 innings): The Falcons (3-1) used a four-run seventh inning to rally and send the game to extra innings and scored an unearned run in the eighth to score the victory. A double by Matt Kautz was a key hit in the seventh for Jensen Beach and Kyle Derrenbacker picked up the win in relief, striking out four in three innings.

Cole Iken had two hits and Matt Pizzarello allowed five hits in six innings while striking out nine for Lincoln Park.

Centennial 6, Port St. Lucie 0: Anthony Gomez tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out six to lead the way for the Eagles (4-1). Dylan Reinhardt went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI and Zack Staples went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI for Centennial.

South Fork 5, Suncoast 4 (9 innings): Mitchell Little completed a perfect 5-for-5 night at the plate with a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth to send the Bulldogs (2-3) home winners.

It took a two-out RBI double from Grant Jones with two outs in the eighth to extend the game for South Fork. Dwayne Johns picked up the win in relief and at the plate had two hits, including a double and Connor Wiggins had two doubles and scored the winning run for the Bulldogs.

Vero Beach 11, Okeechobee 1 (5 innings): Jake Randolph went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Steele Gately worked a complete game on the mound, allowing four hits in the win for the Fighting Indians (5-0). Jake Williams and Will Picchiarini each drove in two runs and Timo Aracena along with Max Swords drove in a run for Vero Beach.

Sebastian River 11, Holy Trinity 8: Peyton Prescott had three hits, including a double and worked 3 2/3 innings on the mound striking out four to lead the Sharks (3-2) to victory. Bryan Marinez and Nate Martin each collected two hits for Sebastian River.

Softball

Martin County 11, Dwyer 0 (5 innings): Emily MacMullen tossed a two-hitter, striking out 11 and added two hits and three RBI at the plate in the win for the Tigers (3-1). Madison Baird and Kendal Aldridge each had a hit and drove in two runs for Martin County.

John Carroll Catholic 25, Brevard HEAT 8 (4 innings): Ayonna Mitchell struck out seven in a complete game effort in the circle and Bridget Guettler had two hits to lead the offense for the Rams (3-2).

Girls Lacrosse

Jensen Beach 8, South Fork 7: Meg Schoppe scored four goals and added an assist to lead the way for the Falcons (2-1). Tatum Swope added a pair of goals, Emma Elliott and Ashley Dunnuck scored a goal apiece and Grace Thomas made 20 saves in goal for Jensen Beach.

Zoe Williams scored three goals and added an assist, Kayla Jones scored twice and had two assists, Katie Hale and Ashley Stocker each had a goal and an assist, Avery Wikart had an assist and Sydnie O’Connor made five saves for South Fork.

Boys Lacrosse

Jensen Beach 14, South Fork 5: Chase Walker scored four goals to lead the charge for the Falcons (2-2). Frankie Howard and Connor Ferreira each scored three goals, Evan Cowette scored two goals and added two assists, Kyle Willis and Nick Lentine added a goal apiece, Matthew Spillman tallied three assists and Patrick Barry led the way in goal with eight saves for Jensen Beach.

Benjamin 15, St. Edward’s 10: Danny Richmond scored four goals in a losing effort for St. Edward’s. Will Russell and Drew Sternberg added two goals apiece, Riker Pratt and Ricky Savage each scored a goal and Liam Murphy made 13 saves in goal for the Pirates.
