Braden River High's O'Mariah Gordon was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball

O’Mariah Gordon is the coaches and media choice for top girls basketball player in the state.

The Braden River High senior has been named the 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball following a final round of voting by a statewide panel of high school coaches and media representatives.

The 5-foot-6 senior guard, who has signed to play college basketball at Florida State University, averaged 23 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game this past season.

The two-time Class 6A Player of the Year, Gordon received seven of the 24 first-place votes and 147 points to finish ahead of Class 4A POY Jasmyne Roberts of Bishop Kenny, who also had seven first-place votes (131), and Class 7A POY Kendal Cheesman of Tampa Plant with six first-place votes (129).

Last year, Gordon finished fourth in the voting.

She is the first area player to receive the award that has been given since 1993. 

Plant’s Carrie Mahon was named girls basketball Coach of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers voting.
