It's time to vote for The News-Press Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch for March 8-21

Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by area coaches during the week. Voting begins at noon each Monday and closes at noon Thursday. Coaches can email scores to sports@news-press.com. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m. Voting is restricted to once per device an hour.

Here are the nominees for March 8-21:

Baseball

Aiden Cecil, Island Coast: Cecil contributed two hits and three RBI to the Gators' 12-3 win over Mariner on March 11.

Boys lacrosse

Brett Luna, Riverdale: Luna netted two goals in Riverdale's 11-4 win over Fort Myers on March 11.

Girls lacrosse

Grace Hall, Cypres Lake: The senior midfielder tallied six goals and two assists in a 16-8 win over Cape Coral on March 9.

Softball

Taylor Rosciti, North Fort Myers: Rosciti had three hits and two RBI as North beat Estero 10-3 on March 11.

Boys tennis

Tyler Carlin, Fort Myers: At No. 1 Singles, Carlin outdueled Cape Coral's Matthew Orozco 7-5, 6-2 as Fort Myers rolled to a 7-0 team win on March 10.

Girls tennis

Brooke Williamson, North Fort Myers: At No. 3 Singles, Williamson beat Riverdale's Carolina Boite 6-4, 6-1 as North scored a 4-3 team victory on March 11.

Boys track and field

 Wyatt Whalen, Bishop Verot: Whalen came out on top in the discus (122 feet, 3 inches) and the shot put (43-1) at the Viking Relays on March 19.

Girls track and field

 Lucheyona Weaver, Dunbar: Weaver won the 100-meter hurdles (13.83 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (44.97) at the IMG Spring Break Invitational on March 20.
