Suwannee fell to Clay 14-11 in eight innings at home Saturday evening in District 2-4A action.

It was a wild game that saw the Class 4A No. 3 Bulldogs jump out to an 8-0 lead in the fourth inning before taking a 9-0 advantage after five. But on the verge of being run-ruled, the No. 2 Blue Devils scored eight runs themselves in the sixth.

Suwannee went back up 10-8 in the bottom of the sixth before Clay took an 11-10 lead in the top of the seventh. The teams went to extras tied at 11.

Payton Waters led Suwannee with three RBIs, while Hunter Corbin hit a two-run home run for his two RBIs and Josh Fernald sent a solo shot over the fence. Matthew Gill also drove in two runs and Suwannee got one RBI apiece from Calvin Palmer and Easton Kirby.

Tyson Greene suffered the loss in the eighth, giving up three earned runs on four hits. Gill started and surrendered three runs — two earned — on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
