Trenton senior pitcher Darian Ingram was named the Miss Softball award winner Tuesday following final voting by a statewide panel of high school coaches and media representatives.

Ingram, in the closest voting in the history of the Florida Dairy Farmers, was named the Class 1A Player of the Year last week. She tallied 110 points and garnered all six of the 24 first-place votes to finish ahead of Class 7A Player of the Year Cassidy McLellan from Lakewood Ranch, who finished with 104 points.

Third place went to Class 6A Player of the Year Alyssa Zabala from Doral Academy (100 points), fourth place was Class 4A Player of the Year Libby Levendoski from Eustis (90), followed by Class 5A Player of the Year Julia Knowler from Fort Myers (76), Class 3A Player of the Year Rachael Petrarca from Academy of Holy Names (26) and Class 2A Morgen Talley of St. Pete Canterbury (22).

Ingram, who signed with Florida Atlantic, led her squad to its second consecutive Class state title with an 18-1 record, threw eight no-hitters, including a perfect game, and posted an 0.61 ERA while striking out 232 batters in 114 innings pitched.

Her coach Todd Bryant finished second in the Coach of the Year Award behind first-year state title winner TJ Goelz from Class 7A Lakewood Ranch. Bryant was named Class 1A Coach of the Year last week.

Ingram joins Stacey Stevens from Buchholz in 2003 and Jennifer Joiner from Bell in 1999 as the only area players to have won the Miss Softball Award. Meanwhile, no area coach has ever won the Coach of the Year award.
