TSSAA Announces Broadcast Talent For BlueCross Bowl

HERMITAGE -- The TSSAA and the Tennessee High School Sports Network (THSSN) is proud to announce the broadcast talent that will be bringing the games to fans across
the state for the 2008 BlueCross Bowl football championship games on Comcast/CSS.
Mike Keith, the “Voice of the Titans” and former Tennessee Titan wide receiver Kevin Dyson will be the television broadcast team bringing fans the Class 2A and Class
4A games.
Veteran broadcaster and TV sports anchor Mark Howard and Kelly Holcomb, a former Lincoln County, MTSU, and NFL quarterback, will be the broadcast team for the Class 1A, 3A, and 5A games.
TSSAA/THSSN officials say they are fortunate and very appreciative of the Tennessee Titans organization for their willingness to permit Keith to be involved in the television broadcast. Much of this fortunate acquisition of his services is due to the relationship between the Tennessee Titans and their sponsorship of the Mr. Football Awards.
Keith, the reigning Tennessee Sportscaster of the Year, is in his 10th year as the "Voice of the Titans.” The NFL's second-youngest play-by-play announcer was actually the first ever associated with Tennessee's NFL team. In 1996, while the team was in Houston, Keith hosted a pre-game show for Tennessee stations who carried the Oilers games.
The Franklin-native served as the network's scoreboard host in 1997 before moving into the booth as color analyst in 1998 and then assuming the play-by-play duties in 1999.
In addition to his play-by-play duties, Keith hosts the weekly Jeff Fisher Show and handles many of the daily Titans Reports on Titans Radio. He also writes a regular column for Titans Radio's web site, TitansRadio.Com.
On May 26, 1998, Keith joined the Titans full-time as Director of Broadcasting. He came to the Titans after becoming one of Tennessee's most honored sportscasters while working in Knoxville for WIVK/WNOX Radio and the Vol Radio Network. From 1989-98, the AP State broadcasters five times named Keith's play-by-play work and his daily sports talk show as the best in Tennessee.
Among his other awards, Keith won a 1997 RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award for nationwide excellence in sports reporting. From 1987-98, Keith was a Vol Radio Network stalwart, working with Vol football, basketball, baseball and Lady Vol basketball broadcasts and coaches' shows on radio and television.
Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Dyson will join Mike Keith as the color analyst in the Class 2A and 4A games. Dyson was a member of the Tennessee Titans organization from 1998 to 2002. He has a career 178 receptions for 2,325 yards and 18 touchdowns. Dyson is most notable remembered for his across-the-field lateral from Frank Wycheck, known by most as the “Music City Miracle” in 1999, advancing the Titans through the playoffs. He played in Super Bowl XXXIV, and was tackled 1-yard short of scoring the game-tying touchdown as time expired.
For the last two years, Kevin has worked with Titans Radio and 104.5 the Zone on the popular "Titans Talkback" post-game show.
Veteran broadcaster and former TV sports anchor Howard will handle play-by-play duties for the Class 1A, 3A, and 5A championship games. Currently, Howard is one of the hosts for The Wake Up Zone, 104-5 The Zone's award-winning morning sports talk in Nashville. He also hosts the Titans Radio's Final Drive, a post-game show after all Tennessee Titans games.
In 1986, Howard came to Nashville where he balanced sports reporting and weekend sports anchoring for WTVF News Channel 5. He has handled play-by-play duties for statewide telecasts of previous BlueCross Bowl championship games and state basketball tournament games as well.
Holcomb, a Fayetteville native and 1994 graduate of MTSU, will join Howrard as the color commentator for the Class 1A, 3A, and 5A championship games. A 15-year veteran of the NFL, Holcomb has been one of the color commentators for MTSU’s Blue Raider Network. He has also done color-commentary for collegiate and high school game telecasts in 2008 as well.
Holcomb attended Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tenn. where he helped lead the Falcons to a state championship victory in 1990. He signed with MTSU in 1991. A four-year starter for the Blue Raiders, Holcomb set nearly every passing record at MTSU before heading to the NFL.
In his career, Holcomb played for the Colts, Browns, Bills, Eagles, and Vikings. Holcomb owns one of the most memorable passing performances in NFL history when he threw for a record 429 yards in a Wild Card game against Pittsburgh.
