Cloudland was unable to keep pace with a torrid University High start on Thursday evening.
The ‘Landers dropped an 18-0 decision to the Bucs in the opening round of the District 1-A Tournament at Sullivan East. With the loss, Cloudland falls into an elimination game at Sullivan East against Unaka on Saturday at 2p.
Walker Gouge opened the game by drawing a walk and Jacob Stinnett recorded a two-out single to give CHS runners on the corner. However, the ‘Landers were unable to keep the inning alive.
The Bucs came out of the gate hot as they plated 16 runs in the opening frame to take control.
Thomas Job reached base via a single for CHS in the second, but the ‘Landers were unable to move the run. Cloudland continued to battle but was unable to rally.
Job and Stinnett each recorded a hit for CHS.
