Alex Holder, a member of the Bishop Dwenger golf team, made it to the Round of 32 before losing at the US Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills in Bloomfield Township, Michigan.

After shooting a 1-under 69 and a 75 during stroke play, Holder pulled an upset during match play by defeating Chase Kyes of Birmingham, Alabama, 1 up, before losing 5 and 4 to San Diego’s Jay Leng, who went on to reach the semifinals.

The championship saw Trevor Gutschewski of Omaha, Nebraska, defeat Tyler Watts of Huntsville, Alabama, 4 and 3 on Saturday. Gutschewski gets an exemption to next year’s US Open.

Goshen’s Brayden Miller lost in the first round of match play to New Zealand’s Joshua Bai.
