SELLERSBURG — Preston Burton tossed a complete-game shutout to lead Silver Creek to a 4-0 victory over visiting Charlestown in a Mid-Southern Conference clash Monday evening.

The senior right-hander scattered four hits while walking one and striking out six over the seven innings.

He got all the run-support he would need when the Dragons tallied twice in the bottom of the second. Silver Creek scored single runs in the fourth and sixth frames.

Mikey Williamson led the Dragons at the plate. The senior catcher went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Sophomore Conner Burns added a pair of RBIs for Creek.

Zach Helton accounted for half of the Pirates’ hits, going 2-for-3.

Silver Creek (10-3, 4-0), which visited Columbus North on Tuesday evening, is slated to visit North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Charlestown (11-6, 3-2), meanwhile, is scheduled to host Austin at 6 p.m. Thursday evening.

GENERALS ROLL OVER LIONS

CLARKSVILLE — Led by Jayden Arnold and Carter Deacon, Clarksville picked up its second victory of the season with a 14-4 five-inning victory over visiting Rock Creek on Monday evening.

Arnold and Deacon scored drove in three runs apiece. Additionally, Cristian Gonzalez, Brenden Borho and Ryder Branham added one RBI each for the Generals (3-12).

That was more than enough run-support for Arnold, who picked up the complete-game victory on the mound. He fanned 10, walked four and gave up two hits with one earned run over five innings.

Romney Hampton paced the Lions (3-8) with two hits, including a triple, while Caden Mason drove in two.

SHAMROCKS TOP PIONEERS

LOUISVILLE — Grayson Davis pitched a one-hit shutout to lead Louisville Trinity to a 5-0 victory over visiting Providence on Monday night.

Davis also struck out 12 while hitting two Pioneers in the win. Providence's Blake Straub broke up Davis' no-hitter with a single in the seventh.

Collin Sander led the way for the Shamrocks. He had a double, triple and home run with four RBIs.

Straub absorbed the loss for the Pioneers. He fanned two but gave up nine hits, two walks and five earned runs over six frames.
