LaHue signs with SCAD Atlanta

Corydon Central senior Booker LaHue is surrounded by family and coaches as he signs his National Letter of Intent to run cross-country and track for Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta in Georgia on April 14.

As an impressive high school running career draws to an end, Corydon Central's Booker LaHue has committed to competing at the collegiate level.

LaHue, the son of Brian and Marcee LaHue, signed his National Letter of Intent to run both cross-country and track at the Savannah College of Art and Design's Atlanta, Ga.-campus on April 14. In college, LaHue will look to major in illustration design.

Outside of cross-country and track, LaHue was also a four-year member of the Panthers' swim team. Aside from athletics, the Corydon resident is also a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Youth for Christ Club, Student Athlete Leadership Team and Friendship Connect Club.

Six total schools reached out to LaHue in hopes of recruiting him. His decision to attend SCAD centers around the advanced classes and programs they provide, along with the campus being nestled within a major U.S. city, which can provide myriad opportunities. He made two official visits to SCAD Atlanta prior to making his decision.

"Overall, the advanced programs and classes they offer are very appealing, some of the best in the nation. With that said, I am also very blessed to have the opportunity to run for SCAD," LaHue said. "I made my first visit back in August of 2024 and my second in January of 2025, it was awe-inspiring to say the least. The campus is situated in the city of Atlanta, so there are many opportunities for outside activities, work and connections."

SCAD's men's cross-country team had a solid season back in the fall of 2024, finishing third out of 11 teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The Bees sent a trio of runners — Paul Moore, William Karim and Trent Wills — to compete in the NAIA National Championships in Columbia, Mo.

The Bees' men's track and field team will compete in the Emory Qualifier in Atlanta today (Wednesday) followed by the Lee Last Chance Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn., on Saturday. The season will end at the NAIA Outdoor Championships from May 21 to 23 in Marion, in northern Indiana.
