The Lewis Cass baseball team got back in the win column with a 14-3 win in six innings at Clinton Central on Tuesday.
The Kings (8-7) snapped a four-game skid with the win over the Bulldogs (6-6).
Brody Williams went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Kings. Wade Tocco went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Owen Cotner-Graves had a double, single and five RBIs. Trevor Rowe had two hits and four runs scored. Gavin Smith, Julian Davidson, Bryce Rudd and Nolan Hahn each added a hit.
Cass broke open a 5-3 game with four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to end it early.
Kaison Hipsher-Walker allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings. Curtis Henry (1-1) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of perfect relief with two strikeouts.
CARROLL 14, PIONEER 4
Carroll (4-11) turned back visiting Pioneer (6-9) in six innings.
Coy Lytle, Landon Hammond and Owen Zinn had two hits apiece for the Cougars. Xavier Williams had a double and three RBIs.
Brycen Jamison held the Panthers to four runs on nine hits.
Noah Miller had two doubles and two RBIs for the Panthers. Eli Guffey, Jason Gluth and Brodie Howard had two hits apiece.
The Panthers committed seven errors which led to 11 unearned runs. Lane Weldy allowed nine runs (two earned) on five hits in three innings, striking out six. Jaxson Merrick gave up five runs (one earned) on three hits in two innings.
CENTRAL CATHOLIC 24, CASTON 7
Caston (13-6) played right with Class 2A No. 8 Lafayette Central Catholic (13-4) through six innings during a midweek game in Fulton. The Comets were within 8-7 entering the seventh before the Knights exploded for 16 runs in the top of the frame.
The Comets hurt themselves by committing five errors and allowing 20 walks, four hit batsmen and 13 unearned runs to score in the contest.
Eli Holloway went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Comets at the plate. Tucker Woolever and Carson Harness each had a single and two RBIs. Gavin Mollenkopf, Parker Zimpleman, Parker Zimpleman and London Herd each added a hit.
WINAMAC 10, SOUTH CENTRAL 5
Winamac (12-5) held off visiting South Central (4-11).
Hutch Martin went 3-for-3 for the Warriors. Cody Wheeler had a double, single and three RBIs. Xavier Adriano had to hits. Brayden Mathias, Will Malchow and Eli Budka each added a hit.
Wheeler got the win, allowing two runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings. Mathias allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits in 2 2/3 innings.
“Cody was throwing well but I knew going in I was cutting him off so he would be available for Triton,” Winamac coach Mark Hendryx said. “Brayden threw well, he just had some control issues in the seventh but he buckled down and finished it for us. We had some chances to blow it open, we just couldn’t capitalize. I’m thrilled we got the win when we didn’t have our best day.”
LOGAN 11, PERU 0
Logansport (13-4) won at Peru (7-6) in five innings.
Natalee Packard windmilled a three-hit shutout, striking out three.
Adrienne Scott went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Berries. Gracie Risley had a home run, triple and two RBIs. Rylinn Spradling had two hits. Lucy Gordon had a double and two RBIs. Brooklynn Hagerty and Bella Nicoles added a hit apiece.
MANCHESTER 4, CASTON 3
Caston (3-11) almost pulled off a win against Manchester (9-8) in Fulton.
Natalie Warner went 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and an RBI for the Comets. Mia Mersch had an RBI single. Hadlie Coffing had an RBI sac fly. Myli Rude added a single.
Warner allowed four runs on seven hits, striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings. Mersch pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit.
LOGAN 168, WABASH 197
The Berries recorded a win at Honeywell Golf Course.
Eli Baldwin shot a 37 to earn medalist honors. He was followed by Graham Taylor (38), Kyle Rozzi (44), Louis Rozzi (45), Logan Lange (48) and Evan Brandstatter (52).
