BLOOMINGTON NORTH 10, CLAY CITY 5: Brogan Hanna got the win in relief while Drew Wagner was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBI. Jake Meyer was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Chris Barnett and Luke Freel were both 2-for-3 and Conor Steele was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

WEST LAFAYETTE HARRISON 12, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 7: A long road trip put an end to South's win streak at 10. Reid Walker was 3-for-4 with a triple, two steals and an RBI and Sam Giles was 2-for-4 with three steals, both them scoring three times. Luke Arnett was 2-for-3 with three RBI. South tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the sixth and outhit Harrison 11-9, but five hurlers gave up 10 walks while the 4A No. 7 Raiders survived five errors, scoring five times in the bottom of the sixth.

HALL OF FAME CLASSIC (Jasper): Edgewood (7-6) earned a split on Day 2, beating 2A No. 2 Barr-Reeve, 8-2 and falling to North Posey 14-7. In the opener, Anthony Shields tossed two-hit ball over six innings with five walks and six strikeouts. Will Lawson was 2-for-4 with four RBI while Will Inman was 2-for-3 while Carter Hayden and Aaron Murphy were each 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mustang pitching had a tougher time in the nightcap, walking seven and giving up 11 hits. Gunnar Perry was 2-for-2 and Lawson was 2-for-4.

ABE LINCOLN CLASSIC (at Heritage Hills): Eastern Greene (14-3) took the title for the second year in a row, beating Perry Central 6-1 and Heritage Hills 7-4. Chaz Perry tossed a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the opener while Peyton Lewis had two hits and Kasen Cullison and Brenton Cook each drove in two runs. EG led 6-0 after three innings. In the title game, Heritage Hill tied it in the bottom of the fifth 4-4 before the T-Birds put up three in the top of the seventh. Lewis was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI while Cook and Gavin Whitfield were each 2-for-4 with an RBI. Cook got the win with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.

Softball

EDGEWOOD 8-14, SHAKAMAK 2-0: Game 1, Ally Bland struck out 15 and walked just one in the opener as the Mustangs scored two runs in each of the first three innings. Game 2, an eight-run first made it easy as Brylee Moore went four innings, giving up just two hits and striking out seven in the five-inning contest. Addison Yearby had huge game going 2-for-3 with two doubles and six RBI. Libby McIlhenney, Lizzy Austin, Ella Sproul were all 2-for-3 while Lindzey Rains was 2-for-4, scoring three times.

Boys golf

BLOOMINGTON NORTH INVITATIONAL (at Cascades): Center Grove won with a 302 to top Carmel at 318 with Bedford North Lawrence fourth (329), North fifth (331) and Edgewood seventh (335). North's Hogan Conder shot a 76 and won a scorecard tiebreaker for third. A 70 by Keaton Hamilton of New Albany was medalist. Other North: Zayan Farzad 82, Alec Freund 86, Rex Speer 87, Foster Larsen 96. Edgewood: Hank Ripley 80, Teigan Hulbert 82, Ike Wilkie 84, Zayne Dwigans 89, Calvin McDonald 90.

SPRING PREVIEW (at Prairie View): No.1 Westfield won with a 288, followed by No. 2 Homestead (290), No. 12 Zionsville (296), No. 7 Evansville North (298, No. 5 Guerin Catholic (300), No. 4 Center Grove (303), No. 10 Castle (307), No. 3 Noblesville (308), No. 8 Carmel (315), Cathedral (320), No. 15 Leo (320), No. 16 Warsaw (322), No. 11 Hamilton Southeastern (323) and No. 9 Bloomington South (327) in 14th. Individually, a 66 by Homestead's Caden Baker earned medalist honors by three strokes. For South: Colton Watson 78, Aidan Bomba 81, Carson Gady 84, Owen Wisley 84, Kam Feagans 86.

Friday, May 9

Baseball

JASPER 8, EDGEWOOD 0: Mustangs (6-5) drop opener of Hall of Fame Classic at Jasper. The Wildcats (13-6) led 7-0 after three innings, plenty of offense for Max Werner (6 IP, 5K 3 BB, 6 H). They'll play 1A No. 1 Barr-Reeve at 1 p.m. then North Posey at 3:30 on Saturday.

EASTERN GREENE 7, BLOOMFIELD 4: T-Birds (12-3, 4-1) get a huge night from Gavin Whitfield, who went the distance with a five-hitter and 13 strikeouts without giving up and earned run and also slugged his second homer of the year and drove in two. Eastern took a 5-4 lead into the top of the seventh. Cards fall to 6-10, 1-4.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 11, FRANKLIN 1 (5 inn): Connor Couch tossed a four-hitter while Connor Osborne had just one hit but drove in four runs for South (11-5). Max Surdam was 2-for-2 with a homer and three runs scored and Reid Walker was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

SHAKAMAK 12, EASTERN GREENE 4: Addison Ramey and Charley Paurazas struck out 12 and gave up just three earned runs. Makayla Singh was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the T-Birds (5-8, 1-4).

BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 10, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 2: The Stars (16-8) led 9-1 after three innings, collecting 14 hits and stealing eight bases. Kendon Galligher was 2-for-3 for North (4-10). Auburn signee Ava Ratliff was 3-for-4 with her ninth homer and three RBI for the Stars.

Girls track

EASTERN GREENE INVITATIONAL: Team scores—Eastern Greene 178, Linton 155, White River Valley 85, Shakamak 47, Bloomfield 9. Clara Hawk, Lilyanna Blais and Esther Crane put on a show for the T-Birds. Hawk won the 100 hurdles (18.20) and 300 hurdles (50.01) and was second in the 200 (28.11), fourth in the 100 (13.8). Blais won the 400 (1:02.28), 800 (2:27.85) and 1,600 in a school record 5:11.48 and was second in the 3,200 (12:06.31) while Crane won the 3,200 (12:05.39), took second in the 1,600 (5:33.22) and third in the 800 (2:33.97) and 300 hurdles (55.83). Kena Maddox won HJ (4-10). Linton's Becca Robbins swept the throws easily with tosses of 39-7½ (SP) and 142-5 (discus). Complete results: live.timingmd.net.

LINTON 26, EASTERN GREENE 5 (5 inn): A 16-run inning in the second blew it open for the Miners, who had 23 hits in the SWIAC rout. Grace Deckard was 2-for-4 with four RBI for Eastern (5-7, 1-3), which committed eight errors.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 5, SEYMOUR 1: Game was tied 1-1 before the Panthers (10-3) came up with a four-run sixth inning. Akasha Burton was 2-for-3 with an RBI; Evie Carpenter drove in two runs and Sloane Barrett was 2-for-4. Rachel Johnson tossed a five-hitter, walkine one with four strikeouts while Taylor Stuckwisch struck out 14 for the Owls.

GREENCASTLE 6, OWEN VALLEY 4: Patriots (9-3, 5-2) saw a 3-1 lead disappear with a four-run top of the sixth by the Tiger Cubs (11-3, 6-1) who had 11 hits and stole eight bases.

PLAINFIELD 3, BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 2: The Panthers (5-3) split two three-hour matches. South (singles) 1. Carla Demeter won 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(2); 2. Hannah Vandeventer lost 4-6, 3-6; 3. Mira Koduri lost 6-1, 6-2; (doubles) 1. Everly Clark/Quinn Reynolds won 6-2, 6-4; 2. Sydney Gady/Clara Tweedie lost 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(3).

EDGEWOOD 10, NORTHVIEW 4: Ally Bland went 6 innings, giving up four hits, no walks and struck out 11 as the Mustangs (10-4, 4-1) stayed in the WIC hunt. Ella Sproul and Sydney Austin were each 1-for-3 with an RBI as Edgewood scored all its runs in the second inning.

EASTERN GREENE 7, WHITE RIVER VALLEY 6 (10 inn): T-Birds trailed 5-1 early before tying it in the sixth and winning it in the top of the 10th. Grace Deckard was 4-for-5 and stole three bases while Charley Paurazas was 3-for-6 with four RBI, including the game-winner, and went eight innings, giving up four hits and one run while striking out nine . Addison Ramsey was also 3-for-6.

EDGEWOOD 2, NORTHVIEW 1: Jackson Huber went six innings, striking out eight and Anthony Shields picked up the save for a big WIC win for Edgewood (6-4, 5-1). Gunnar Perry and Carter Hayden were each 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Liam Smith and Zach Sipes were each 2-for-2 for Cougars, who have lost four straight while scoring just four runs.

Jacob bellman was 4-for-5 with with a double and 2 RBI. Kasen Cullison was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Gavin Whitfield was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Peyton Lewis struck out seven.

BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE 5, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 1: It was a tough night on all counts for the Cougars. Pitchers walked nine, while North drew six free passes but couldn't get the key hit after the first inning. Tate Tanksley had two hits and two RBIs for the Stars, while IU recruit Cal Gates had a hit and pitched the last two innings, getting four strikeouts. North has lost three straight.

GREENCASTLE 10, EDGEWOOD 3: Tough night for the Mustangs (5-4, 4-1) as the staff walked 10 batters and gave up nine hits. Tiger Cubs (9-3, 4-1) led 6-3 after two innings. OV (5-1), Sullivan (5-1), Edgewood (4-1), Greencastle (4-1) all have one loss in WIC play.

EASTERN GREENE 15, NORTH CENTRAL 2 (5 inn): T-Birds (10-3, 2-1) trailed 1-0 after four innings in the rain delayed SWIAC game before scoring five in the fifth, three in the sixth and seven in the seventh to blow it open. Peyton Lewis was 2-for-3, with a homer and two RBIs; Gavin Whitfield was 3-for-5 with a double and Jack Rees had two RBIs. Whitfield got the win.

NORTH PUTNAM 5, OWEN VALLEY 3 (8 inn): Cougar pitchers fanned 13 in the upset WIC win for NP (6-8, 3-4) that stopped Patriots (9-2, 5-1) win streak.

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 6, BLOOMFIELD 3: South (9-3) went up 5-2 after the first inning and hung on as Brilee McGlothlin and Rachel Johnson blanked the Cards (7-6) after the third inning. Bella Simmons was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Larkyn Ivey was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

It was tied 6-6 after three before Eastern scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Grace Deckard was 2-for-4 with three RBIs; Ashlynn Bellman, Paurazas, Ramey were all 2-for-4, scoring two runs and Mikayla Singh was 2-for-4.

MOORESVILLE 11, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 2: The Pioneers (12-5) took an 8-0 lead in the top of the fifth and rolled. Molly Klein gave up just four earned runs in five innings. Keylee Taylor was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jocelyn Parrish was 2-for-3.
