DES MOINES - Friday was a banner day for the Mississippi Athletic Conference at the Class 2A state bowling tournament.
Davenport North claimed the boys championship, edging Dubuque Hempstead by 34 pins, and the Muscatine girls earned its second straight title and third in the past four years.
Sophomore Zach Fries was the top individual finisher for the Wildcats, placing 10th with a 645.
The Muskies girls finished with a 3,122 score, 117 pins ahead of second-place Ottumwa. Clinton finished fourth with 2,753.
Muscatine had three of the top nine bowlers in the individual race, led by third-place Lindsey Kuhlenbeck (685), fourth-place Hannah Lake (630) and ninth-place Amanda Clemens (599).
Hockey
Blues 5, Cedar Rapids 2: Bobby Cassatt recorded two goals and an assist as the Quad-City Blues advanced in the Midwest High School Hockey League tournament.
