Rural soccer ranked No. 3

Defending Class 6A state champion Washburn Rural will open the 2010 boys' soccer season ranked No. 2 in Class 6A and No. 3 overall in the Kansas Soccer Coaches Association's preseason poll. Rural, which finished 20-1 last year, is ranked behind Blue Valley North in 6A and behind North and No. 1 Aquinas in the overall poll, and also is ranked No. 1 in the central region.

No other city team drew top-five class rankings, but Hayden was ranked No. 1 in the Class 4-1A central region, Topeka High was No. 5 in the 6A central region and Shawnee Heights and Seaman were Nos. 3 and 5, respectively, in the 5A central region. Emporia was No. 1 in the 5A central region and No. 3 in 5A overall.
