The Henry County High School Lady Patriots earned their second straight District 14-4A championship title on Friday with a 6-2 win over Dickson County Lady Cougars.

The Lady Patriots took a firm lead early by putting four runs in the bottom of the first inning. An error by the Cougars scored one run, with a Breely Peirpoint double scoring the second. A double by Reed Jackson scored two additional runs.

The Lady Pats tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second with a double by Layne Latimer.

Irelynn Beecham earned the win for the Lady Patriots, giving up three hits and two runs over seven innings, while striking out eight and walking three.

Henry County recorded 10 hits during the contest, with Latimer, Celia Lamkin, and Beecham each collecting two. Latimer and Jackson each drove in two runs. The team stole six bases during the game — two by Noe Wilkerson. Defensively, the team turned one double play, and left the field without an error. Andie Barrett had the most chances in the field with nine.

It’s the third consecutive District 14-4A title win for the Lady Patriots.
