The Pioneer girls soccer team was unbeaten through its last 11 games heading into Tuesday night's regional semifinal matchup with Caledonia.

The Pioneers could not make it 12.

Caledonia (16-3-3) controlled the entire game against Pioneer (13-4-3) and advanced to the regional final at Caledonia High School with a 5-1 win.

“We just ran into a better team,” Ann Arbor Pioneer coach Chris Coleman told MLive Media Group. “They are pretty much flawless in their execution, and they don't waiver from their gameplan.

“On defense you hope you can stay as organized as possible, but we just weren’t that good on defense tonight,” he added. “We just couldn't keep up. They are a better team.”
