John Brown Remains Unbeaten

— The John Brown men’s basketball improved to 6-0 on Tuesday night after dropping Bacone College (Okla.) 81-43 in non-conference road action.

Junior Coleson Rakestraw led all scorers with 15 points after going 5-of-6 from downtown. Junior Abel Galliguez and senior Adrian Miller added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

For Bacone (0-3), La’Charleston Tumblin and Lakheem Trotter finished with 12 points each.

JBU sprinted out of the gates and led 12-0 after a barrage of three point bombs from Galliguez. At the 13 minute, 40 second mark, the Warrirors finally got on the board after a bucket from Neco Long, but the momentum was clearly in JBU’s favor.

Midway through the half, JBU held a firm 23-9 lead before closing out the half ahead 46-21. In the first half, JBU shot better than 90 percent (10-of-11) from three-point territory and nearly 70 percent overall (18-of-26).

In the second half, JBU kept its foot on the pedal and continued to knock down shots while limiting Bacone’s opportunities. At the end of the night, the men cruised to the 38-point victory.

For the game, JBU ended up shooting 59.6 percent from the floor, including 63.2 percent from three point land, while holding Bacone to 36.4 percent for the game.

JBU continued to dominate the glass and held a 39-15 edge, rebounding.

Up next, the Golden Eagles open up conference play at home on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. versus No. 11 Rogers State (Okla.).
