Perrysburg’s Nora Abdul-Aziz, and the Yellow Jackets’ doubles team of Erica Fastnacht and Sarah
Fastnacht advanced to the semifinals of the Division I district tennis tournament Thursday at Bowling Green
State University.They can clinch a berth in the state tournament by winning their semifinal match
Saturday.Abdul-Aziz opened with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Toledo Central Catholic’s Kaitlyn Dominiak and then was
a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Ashland’s Maggie McGinty.She will face Notre Dame’s Nina Eid in the semifinals.The
Fastnacht team won its opening match, 6-0, 6-1 over Southview’s Priya Singh and Keeley Brown. It then
defeated Clay’s Cassidy Coughlin and Bailey Coughlin, 6-2, 6-3.They’ll face the team of Celina Nowicki and
Sydney Seeley of St. Ursula in the semifinals.Perrysburg’s Moira Sams and the doubles team of Jordan Spidel
and Camryn Kiel each won their opening matches before falling in the quarterfinals.Sams was a 6-3, 6-1
winner over St. Ursula’s Amanda Fahoury before losing 6-0, 6-1 to Northview’s Megan Miller.Spidel and Kiel
beat Anthony Wayne’s Meredith Ash and Madalyn Kistner, 6-0, 6-2. Clay’s Jennifer Belkofer and Emilie Roman
