High Schools: Bonner-Prendie’s Abby Gannon rolls at state bowling championships

Bonner & Prendie junior Abby Gannon was among 24 bowlers statewide to compete in the 2025 Pennsylvania Girls’ Bowling Individual Championships on Friday.

Gannon earned 19th place with a score of 1,070. She rolled 219 in the second game, which was the highest score recorded in that round across the field.

Rachel Kessler of St. Hubert finished tied for 16th overall with a six-game total of 1,082. Kessler registered a 202 in her final game.

In February, Gannon rolled a 715, including a match-high 257 in the second series, to lead the Pandas to their third consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League championship with a victory over St. Hubert.

Girls Lacrosse

Jenny Green scored three goals and had five draw controls and Taylor Halloran added three goals as Garnet Valley’s girls lacrosse team defeated Phoenixville, 7-5, on the first day of action for PIAA-affiliated sports teams.

Ryann Razzano also scored and assisted on two others, while Brooke McGoven contributed five draw controls. Merrin Mink made eight saves in the GV net.

In other nonleague games:

Springfield 16, W.C. Rustin 4 >> Maddy Kane and Eva Lemeiuxhad three goals each to lead the Cougars. Katie Keffer, Frankie Summa and Mia Wainwright added two goals each.

Sun Valley 18, Collegium Charter 1 >> Brielle Wright led the way with four goals and nine draw controls in the Vanguards rout. Abby Messick and Gia Kinsler had three goals each, Rylee Hoesch, Luci Damico and Alyssa Sands had two goals each.

Upper Dublin 8, Haverford 4 >> The Fords received two goals from Annie Walker, who also had five draw controls and five ground balls.

Kayla Elliott added two goals and four ground balls and goalie Lucy McCloskey made nine saves.

Agnes Irwin 15, Hill Academy (CA) 5 >> Caroline Chisholm and Catie Holmes scored four goals each and Sophia Pratt scored three goals in the Owls’ victory on Thursday. Mairyn Dwyer scored a goal and had five draw controls, Kelsey Young had a goal and four ground balls.

Softball

Lexie Vesco doubled home two runs in the first inning and that sprung Haverford to a 2-1 victory over West Chester East Friday.

That’s all Ali Daly needed. She threw a complete game, allowing only one run and two hits, while striking out six.

Interboro 2, Council Rock North 1 >> Mare Nagle doubled in the first and scored on an error, and pinch-runner Keira Andrelcyk scored another first-inning run after Vanessa Harrity doubled.

Sam Stavola and Sam Lovecchio added base hits for the Bucs, while Jules Bergen went the distance, scattering three hits and allowing but one earned run.

Boys Tennis

Episcopal Academy’s Preston Lubiniecki, Connor Chambers and Adam Graham all won their singles matches in straight sets, setting up a 7-0 victory over Germantown Friends.

Doubles winners were David Ding and Yousuf Gilani, Daniel Adibi and Jayden Zhou, Arthur Hampel and Alan Zhou and Shea Chambers and Hank Goebeler.
