NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Premier League soccer is taking over downtown Nashville this weekend.

Premier League Mornings Live fan festival rolled into Riverfront Park to set up a football-filled weekend for local fans.

The event will feature NBC Sports’ studio team of host Rebecca Lowe and analysts Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe, and Tim Howard. Fans can also enjoy the Premier League trophy, club mascots, and various interactive activities.

Nearly 70,000 soccer fans in the U.S. have attended Premier League Mornings Live events to date in other cities, all of which aim to recreate a matchday experience for supporters and new fans alike.

WSMV4′s Lauren Walsh spoke to Tim Howard, former U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper and NBC analyst about a variety of topics before fan fest kicks off Saturday morning at 5 a.m. CT.

On the question of learning about the Premier League as an American playing for Manchester United and Everton in his career, Howard said the standard of soccer is unmatched.

“I learned that it’s the best league in the world,” Howard said. “It really, truly is the best league in the world -- the best players, the best managers. When you talk about the fandom, which I’ve gotten a sense of since I finished playing, it’s the best supporter league in the world because of how many great players and great teams are there. When we have these fan fests, it’s on complete display because people go wild for the Premier League.”

The Premier League Mornings Live fan festival takes place April 6-7 in Nashville, and fans can watch Premier League matches on WSMV4.
