How low can Shedeur Sanders go?

The former Colorado quarterback and son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders not long ago was considered by many pundits to go as high as No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans.

Instead, Sanders still is waiting for a phone call after two days and three rounds.

Everyone from President Donald Trump to 2 Live Crew's Luther Campbell expressed their displeasure with Sanders' slide.

Five quarterbacks − Miami's Cam Ward (1st overall, Titans); Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart (25th, Giants); Louisville's Tyler Shough (40th, Saints); Alabama's Jalen Milroe (92nd, Seahawks); and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel (94th, Browns) − all have been selected.

Why hasn't Shedeur Sanders been drafted yet?

Some speculate that it's because he didn't attend the Senior Bowl or the NFL Combine. Others suggest it could be that teams don't want to deal with his father and the distraction it could bring. Others think he's just not talented enough to be picked that high.

Who might pick Shedeur Sanders and when?

The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be the most likely destinations, but both teams have passed on him a combined seven times through the first three rounds.

The Raiders have the sixth pick in the fourth round, which begins at 11 a.m. (CT) on April 27. The Steelers have the 21st pick in the fourth.

Inside the numbers

Sanders was first in the NCAA FBS Division in completion percentage (.740), second in passing touchdowns (37) and completions (353), and fourth in passing yards (4,134) and attempts (477).

The Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year began his career at Jackson State, where his father also coached him, after originally committing to Florida Atlantic.
