The 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase took place on Sunday, September 8th in Rock Hill, South Carolina featuring some of the best young prospects in North and South Carolina. After warming up with some 3v3 action, the players were divided into ten teams for two 5v5 games. Check out my evaluations of the six South Carolina prospects from Team 2 at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase:

#308 [player_tooltip player_id='2559342' first='Jahlil' last='Jenkins'] (Westwood) - Westwood's [player_tooltip player_id='2559342' first='Jahlil' last='Jenkins'] showed some solid offensive skill in Rock Hill on Sunday. He was more of a secondary ball-handler, but when he got his opportunity he attacked the basket to score or dump off to a teammate. Jenkins handled the ball well and limited his turnovers for most of the day. Jahlil also got opportunities to show off his spot-up three point shooting, which was another department where he had success.

#315 [player_tooltip player_id='2470128' first='Jermier' last='Nelson'] (Fort Mill) - Nelson was a play I previewed as one to watch for the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase and he backed it up on the floor. As a 6'1" Point Guard, Jermier has the physical profile to be one of the best in his class because of his positional size, speed, and handle. He used those three attributes well on the offensive end, frequently beating his man off the dribble and getting to the rim. Nelson has a good spin move and is a creative finisher, but he will need to become a steadier finisher as he gets older.

#320 Leagan Hilton (Socastee) - Leagan was one of the most active perimter defenders on Team 2 and had some noteworthy plays on that end of the floor. He seemed to always be in a defensive stance with his hands active - on or off the ball. Hilton was also forced into guarding players of many different sizes and play styles, from scoring guards to athletic wings.

#323 [player_tooltip player_id='2552933' first='JT' last='Brodowski'] (River Bluff) - I was impressed with Brodowski's ability to run his offense at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase. He has a very tight handle and reads the floor very well. JT was always looking to get his teammates involved and some of the times when the unit flowed best were when he was facilitating it.

#329 Alex Evans (North Augusta) - Alex was very active for Team 2 and demonstrated a great feel for playing without the ball. He had some very intelligent cuts which helped when they got in difficult situations. Evans is also a very effective finisher at the rim with either hand including an impressive right-handed finger roll in one of the 5v5 matchups.

#412 Max Leroux (Hilton Head Christian) - Leroux showed some potential in Rock Hill this weekend. He was playing as a wing for his squad and has good length with more room for growth. Max was at his best as a finisher in transition, running the floor, filling lanes, and using his size to finish over defenders. His length also helped him on the defensive end steering passes away from his side and contesting shots.
