The 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo took place on Sunday, September 8th in Rock Hill, South Carolina featuring some of the best 2025s, 2026s, and 2027s in North and South Carolina. After warming up with some 3v3 action, the players were divided into twenty teams for two 5v5 games. Check out my evaluations of the eight South Carolina prospects from Team 5 & Team 6 at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo:

#246 [player_tooltip player_id='2175555' first='Perry' last='Taylor'] (Lucy Beckham) - [player_tooltip player_id='2175555' first='Perry' last='Taylor'] begins our combo list of evaluations from Team 5 and Team 6. Taylor showed off some strong shooting ability at the Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo. He has a nice stroke from the perimeter and is consistent from all areas along the arc. Perry moves well away from the ball keeping his matchup off-balance and creating space for his more ball-dominant teammates.

#255 [player_tooltip player_id='2554045' first='Landon' last='Thompson'] (Cane Bay) - Landon was one of my favorites from Team 5. He was a major threat for opponents on the offensive end while playing either position in the backcourt with his ability to stretch the floor with shooting or finish in the paint. Thompson has a silky left-handed floater that was one of the most consistent I saw in Rock Hill. Landon is also an intelligent passer, cutter, and rebounder.

#315 Gavin Boyd (Lancaster) - Boyd is a small but shifty Point Guard. His playmaking skills were important for his team because he often got the ball while defenses were rotating and he could make the extra pass to turn a good shot into a great one. Gavin showed off a good handle in tight spaces and some good scoring qualities as well.

#333 Ethan Lewis (Wren) - Ethan proved to be a nice young piece this weekend. He was at his best in transition where he could use his size and feel to score or balance the floor for his teammates. Lewis always filled the lane correctly and was a strong finisher with his dominant hand close to the basket.

#551 [player_tooltip player_id='1486213' first='BJ' last='Brown'] (Sumter) - BJ was a dominant scoring force at all three levels for Team 5. He is a very good athlete with positional size and an ability to score off the dribble or spotting up. Although he is a lefty, Brown is very comfortable with either hand and had a lot of success driving right and finishing left. BJ was also strong in playing through contact, frequently earning trips to the free-throw line for one or two shots.

#724 [player_tooltip player_id='1711395' first='Carter' last='Bears'] (St Joseph's) - Carter was active on the glass for his squad on Sunday. He has a strong frame and is a hard worker on both ends of the floor. Bears is a solid finisher when he can catch the ball with two feet in the paint or with second-chance points. He even showed some confidence with his jump shot on a couple of threes.

#332 [player_tooltip player_id='1731675' first='John' last='Cleveland'] (Berkeley) - Cleveland was my favorite defensive prospect at the 2024 Prep Hoops Carolinas Expo. He moved his feet well on the ball to keep opponents in front, displayed strong hands in picking pockets, and high-level instincts and timing with shot blocking at the rim. John didn't have much opportunity in the half-court offense, but he did make some plays in transition turning defense into offense and taking rebounds coast to coast.

#542 [player_tooltip player_id='2314644' first='K'majay' last='Jenkins'] (Westside) - At #2 in the Prep Hoops SC 2027 Rankings, [player_tooltip player_id='2314644' first='K'majay' last='Jenkins'] was one of the highest-ranked prospects in Rock Hill this weekend and he backed it up with his play on the floor. Jenkins is a very smooth scoring option and was a very difficult assignment due to his combination of size, handling, and touch. K'majay is strong with both hands from close range and frequently earned trips to the free throw line with his constant attacks to the rim.
