Rhodes suffers tough 11-3 loss to Wooster

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes snapped its two game win streak with an 11-3 loss to the College of Wooster on Friday.

Rhodes falls to a record of 6-3 heading into conference play while the Scots maintain an unblemished record of 5-0.

Wooster opened scoring nearly three minutes into the contest with a Josh Herold goal to take the 1-0 lead. Rhodes answered with a Merrill Charette unassisted score to knot things up at 1-1 with 9:22 to play in the opening period. But that would be the last Lynx goal for a while as the Rhodes offense struggled to find the back of the net. The Scots would take a 5-1 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Scots continued to find ways to score pushing ahead 8-1 by the end of the third period. Rhodes opened the fourth quarter with a goal from Tyler Tisdale, pulling within six at 8-2. Wooster tacked on another two goals before Matthew Jones added another Lynx goal to make the count 10-3. Wooster netted one more goal to make the final count 11-3.

Rhodes goal keeper had a big day in the net for the Lynx earning all 60 minutes of action. While in goal, Braxton Carr grabbed 19 saves.

Rhodes was outshot by their counterpart, 51-29 and fell behind in the ground ball category as well by a margin of 22-14. Rhodes went 20-25 on clear attempts, while the Scots were successful on 16 of their 21 clear opportunities.

Rhodes will look to bounce back on March 19 when they open conference play against Hendrix College at 7 p.m.
