Rhodes falls to Birmingham-Southern, 9-3

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rhodes men's lacrosse dropped a conference match to Birmingham-Southern College, 9-3 on Saturday.
 
The Lynx fall to 6-5 on the season and begin league play at 0-2. The Panthers advance to 5-4 on the year and a 2-0 start to conference play.
 
The Panthers opened the contest with a goal from Gates Gentry within the first two minutes. Rhodes knotted things up at one all after an Andrew Salamunovich goal with 8:23 to play in the opening half. BSC answered before the end of the period, to make it 2-1.
 
Rhodes found the back of the net on two different occasions with goals from MG Jadick and Merrill Charette to take a 3-3 score into the half time break.
 
The second half was all BSC as the Panthers scored six unanswered goals to take home the 9-3 win.
 
Braxton Carr saw all 60 minutes in goal for the Lynx, where he grabbed 12 saves in the loss.
 
Rhodes was outshot by its opponents by a margin of 40-17, while the fight for ground balls was an even matchup with each team picking up 24 in the contest.
 
The Lynx will return home on March 28 to face Berry College at 7 p.m.
