MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes women's lacrosse team finished the regular season on a high note on Saturday, downing Hendrix College, 20-2 to celebrate senior day.
The Lynx improve to 10-1 in 2015, with a 5-1 mark in conference play while the Warriors fall to 4-9 on the year and 1-6 in league action.
An unrelenting Rhodes went right to work after Hendrix opened play with the first goal at the 25:20 mark. The Lynx netted five straight goals to take a commanding 5-1 lead, with scores from
Ashley Dill, Olivia Holmes and three from
Maggie Rippeto.
The Warriors netted a second goal at the 18:38 mark, but it would be their last, as head coach
Brice Queener's squad went on a 10-goal streak to close the half. Rippeto netted four more scores, with
Morgan Fuller and
Erin Gleeson each adding two. Holmes worked in her second goal, with
Kendall Cunningham finding the back of the cage for the 15-2 lead at the break.
It was all Lynx in the second half, with five goals to push the Lynx out to a 20-2 lead. The Rhodes goals came from the sticks of Rippeto with two, Holmes, Gleeson and
Tori Van Heyst.
Rhodes dominated the Warriors in every category, with 38 shots to their counterparts 11. The Lynx managed to win 18 draw controls and had 11 ground balls in the contest.
Sarah Daniels played 35 minutes in goal for the Lynx, picking up the start and three saves in rout to the win.
Katherine Farmer saw 15 minutes in goal for Rhodes, with two saves.
Katherine Tooley picked up the final nine minutes of play.
Rhodes will be back in action on April 18 when they host the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Championships, against Hendrix College.
