The SEC announced its 2025 football conference matchups on Wednesday afternoon, revealing the Vols’ eight conference matchups.

Tennessee hosts Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium and will travel on the road to face Mississippi State, Florida, Kentucky and Alabama.

If that schedule sounds familiar, it is. It’s the exact same eight teams that Tennessee football will face during SEC play this season with the locations of the games flipped. While the SEC is expanding to 16 teams this season, the conference is keeping its current eight-game conference schedule for at least the next two years.

After the 2025 season, there’s a possibility that the SEC could expand its conference schedule to nine games and put in a definitive scheduling process to decide who plays which teams every season and how a rotation of the other league teams would work.

At the start of this season, the SEC is eliminating divisions and the top two teams by record in the conference will face off in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.

Tennessee has already scheduled three of its four non conference games for the 2025 season to date and likely has held off on scheduling the final one due to the possibility of the conference schedule expanding to nine games.

The Vols will open their 2025 season on August 31 in Atlanta against Syracuse in a Chick-Fil-A Kick-Off game. Josh Heupel’s fifth Tennessee team will face ETSU on Sept. 6 and UAB on Sept. 20 at Neyland Stadium. The date of the conference games are not yet set.
