On a day where ETSU softball needed a big confidence-boosting win after dropping their first SoCon series - Whitley Arnott stepped up to let the Bucs walk away from South Carolina with at least one win under their belt.

After dropping the first game to WInthrop on Tuesday, the Bucs responded with a 2-1 win behind a performance from Arnott in the circle that accounted for giving up just one run with six strikeouts.

The Bucs two runs came without having a base hit in the third inning. Jasmine Sanchez sprinted home on a wild pitch and Riley Nayadley charged home on a sacrifice fly RBI by Faith Adams.

Then later, Arnott was able to escape a bases-loaded situation to keep the lead in tact.

The win for the Bucs snapped a nine-game losing streak - improving to (5-18) overall on the season.

The Bucs are back in action Wednesday when ETSU hosts Tennessee Tech in a solo game at 6 p.m. from Betty Basler Field.
