The cross country teams of Franklin County High School, Huntland and South Middle School competed in the Pioneer Invitational Saturday at Warren County Middle School.
In the high school portion of the meet, there were 157 total runners in action with 102 on the boys side and 55 on the girls side.
The top runner of the day for FCHS was Aydan Yates, who raced to a second-place finish in the boys race with a time of 17:45. He was 24 seconds behind Coffee County’s Jacob Rutledge for first place on the day.
The next runner to cross the finish line for the Rebels was Jayden Taylor in 12th place with a time of 19:44. Teammate Braden Collins finished 25th for the meet with a mark of 20:35.
The top time for the Hornets came from Pedro Garcia as he placed 14th with a time of 19:51.
The Hornets had one more runner make it into the top 40 as Noah Thompson finished 40th with a mark of 21:53.
The remaining runners for the Rebels and their times and placements for the day were Daniel Heath, 32nd, 21:19; Owen Stewart, 36th, 21:32; Xander Brammer, 41st, 21:55; Christian Farell, 65th, 23:50; John Barnhill, 68th, 24:17; Cristian Fravel, 79th, 26:18; Sam Saylor, 82nd, 26:33; and Caleb Cashion, 93rd, 30:57.
The remaining runners for the Hornets and their times and placements for the day were Blake Thompson, 75th, 25:30; Will Jolley, 80th, 26:22; Iseal Martinez, 27:12; Cade MacDonald, 94th, 31:47; and Daltyn Howell, 95th, 31:49.
The Rebelettes and Lady Hornets both had plenty of success with the Rebelettes recording two top-10 finishes while the Lady Hornets had four top-20 placements.
Zulema Martinez finished fifth in the girls race while representing the Rebelettes as she completed the course with a time of 23:43.
Nora Daugherty recorded a ninth-place finish for Franklin County as she crossed the finish line with a time of 24:32.
The top time for the Lady Hornets on the day belonged to Logan McLennan as she finished 11th with a time of 24:54. Teammate Anna Stevenson finished right behind McLennan in 12th place with a time of 25:07.
Jocy May was able to race to a 16th-place finish with a time of 25:47, and Harley Gulley recorded a mark of 26:24 to finish in 20th for the meet.
The remaining runners for the Rebelettes and their times and placements for the day were Addy Hannaway, 38th, 31:04; Audrey Everson, 43rd, 32:23; Bella Paul Hartwig, 47th, 36:21; and Svetlana Earls, 49th, 36:24.
The remaining runners for the Lady Hornets and their times and placements for the day were Megan Tipps, 25th, 27:22; Judah Hill, 37th, 30:27; and Maddux Golden, 42nd, 32:16.
In the middle school portion of the meet, there were 94 total runners with 33 on the girls side and 61 on the boys side.
Catie Hanger recorded the placement of the day for any South runner as she finished 10th in the girls race with a time of 17:54.
The Lady Trojans had another top-20 finish for the day as Audrey Hammond finished 19th with a mark of 19:18. Teammate Catherine Money narrowly missed out on the top 20 as she finished 21st after crossing the finish line with a time of 19:35.
The remaining runners for the Lady Trojans and their times and placements for the day were Madison Alm, 28th, 22:12; and River Robinson, 29th, 22:56.
The top time on the day for the Trojans came from Jasper Henley, who placed 22nd in the boys race with a mark of 16:37.
The Trojans only had one other runner in the top 50 as Luke Kelleher finished in 50th with a time of 19:50.
The remaining runners for the Trojans and their times and placements for the day were Dawson Nunley, 53rd, 19:58; Tucker Harris, 57th, 20:32; Eli Kelleher, 58th, 21:04; and Spencer Garner, 61st, 25:48.
The Rebels and Rebelettes will next be in action on Saturday in the John Freeman Invitational at The Webb School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:25 a.m.
The Hornets and Lady Hornets will next run on Sept. 8 for a meet at Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The Trojans and Lady Trojans will next compete on Sept. 8 in a meet at Don Davidson Park in Fayetteville. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
