Aaron Keen funeral Saturday

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet for longtime area sportswriter Aaron Blake Keen, of Old Hickory.

Mr. Keen, 56, who had worked for several Middle Tennessee publications in his career, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at a Davidson County hospital following complications from lung and kidney disease. His most recent work in the field was as a part-time writer, covering high school football and basketball for The Wilson Post.

He was one of the founders of The Mt. Juliet News where he served for a time as editor and publisher. He was a former sports editor of the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro and was a founder of Rocky Top Views. A member of the Tennessee Sportswriters Association, Mr. Keen was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Jaycees. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet. He was the son of the late Johnny William and Lonnie Bell Montgomery Keen.

The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 2-8 p.m. at the Bond Memorial Chapel, 1098 Weston Drive in Mt. Juliet. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Chuck Groover with burial at the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include: his wife Debbie Whitehead Keen; daughter Dr. Beth Keen, DDS of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law Barbara Keen of Clarksville; niece Pam Hankins and nephews Shannon, Mickey and Scott Keen.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the building fund of the Victory Baptist Church.
