CCS Soccer Tops Baylor 4-3

  • Tuesday, May 1, 2018

Baylor traveled to CCS on Tuesday and after seven goals, the Chargers came out on top 4-3.  The game was tied 2-2 at the half.

Baylor took  1-0 lead in the secon minute as Eemeli Makela scored off a corner kick from an assist from Carter Smith.

The Chargers countered just minutes later when Brett Bowman scored off an Austin Berry assist.

CCS took its first lead of the match at 2-1 in the 8th minute with a Brett Bowman goal.

Baylor's Eemeli Makela made it 2-2 on a Makela penalty kick in the 19th minute after Keegan Weekley was taken down in the box.

A CCS goal by Edimo Nintersto made it 3-2 and teammate Daniel Reinink scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 66th minute for a 4-2 advantage.

Baylor's Lew Pride scored off a Makela assist to cut the lead to 4-3.

"You have to give CCS credit," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said.  "They did what they had to do to get the result. We had some good possession and created chances, but we weren’t sharp enough tonight. We didn’t move the ball fast enough and must learn from this and move on to a huge region match on the road."

CCS keeper Gaines Tallent had four saves and Baylor keeper Henry Hooks had two.

CCS improves to 10-6 and Baylor is now 12-3-2.
