Seven Jackson area baseball players named TSWA all-state

 The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released its all-state baseball team on Wednesday, and seven Jackson area baseball players made it.

South Gibson's Levi Schlesinger (infielder) and Riverside's Raleigh Odle (pitcher) were named all-state in Class AA.

Huntingdon's Elijah Wilkerson (catcher) and Hunter Ensley (infielder) along with Trinity Christian Academy's Lane Forsythe (infielder) were named all-state in Class A.

University School of Jackson's Cade Sammons (outfielder) and Gehrig Rabun (pitcher) rounded out the local players in Division II.

Odle, the All-West Tennessee baseball player of the year, went 9-3 and posted a 2.39 ERA with 96 strikeouts. The senior hit .391 with 13 home runs, 34 RBIs and 23 stolen bases as Riverside advanced to the Class AA state championship, losing to Greeneville 11-0. 

Schlesinger, a Union University signee, helped lead the Hornets to the District 13-AA championship as he batted .426. He also had 30 runs, 22 RBIs and eight doubles.

Wilkerson hit .442, scoring 22 runs with 18 RBIs helping the Mustangs to the Class A sectionals. 

Ensley, a Tennessee commitment, batted .452. He also scored 34 runs to go along with 32 RBIs, 12 doubles and six triples.

Forsythe, a Mississippi State commitment, helped lead the Lions to a third-place finish in the Class A state tournament as he batted .425 for the season. He also had 12 doubles, five triples, 24 RBIs and 20 stolen bases.

Sammons, an Ole Miss commitment, helped the Bruins win the Division II-A West Region crown. USJ finished third in the state tournament. He batted .426 with 10 doubles, four triples, 35 RBIs and 48 runs.

Rabun went 11-1 with a 1.21 ERA and 63 strikeouts.
