After spending several years coaching in Hickman and Maury Counties, Erin (Gonzales) Webb is coming home.

Webb, a 2003 graduate of Dickson County High School, began her coaching career at Hickman County Middle School in 2005. After stints at East Hickman Middle School and a return to Hickman County Middle School, Webb was named the head coach at Whitthorne Middle School in Columbia this past February.

"I really enjoyed my time coaching in Hickman County and in Columbia," said Webb, "but there's nothing like coming home to Dickson County."

After a successful two-sport career at Dickson Middle School and Dickson County High School, Webb went on to Lipscomb University and played softball for two seasons. Her coaching career began while still a student at Lipscomb.

"After speaking with a committee of girls from the basketball team, we compiled a list of ten characteristics that the girls hoped their new coach would possess," said DCHS principal Joey Holley. "Coach Webb was the candidate who most embodied these characteristics. We are super excited that a former Cougar basketball player is coming back to the Hill to serve as the head coach of our girls' basketball team.

"For anyone that's ever experienced Cougar Pride, there's nothing that compares," Webb added. "We have a tradition of greatness. I'm excited to begin working with the faculty, staff, and administrators, and I'm especially excited to meet and get to know the players."

"I'm still in awe of this opportunity," Webb concluded.

There will be a 'Meet and Greet' for Coach Webb on Wednesday, July 18, beginning at 4PM.
