Pope John Paul II's Brooks Heagarty is signing with Richmond.

The Bishop's Cup will stay at Pope John Paul II.

JPII edged rival Father Ryan 20-17 in overtime Friday night for its third consecutive regular-season win in the Division II-AAA East Middle region contest between the Nashville area's two Catholic programs.

All three contests were determined by 10 total points.

"It was closer than it should have been," said Pope John Paul II coach Justin Geisinger, acknowledging three turnovers, including two lost fumbles. "Our defense kept us in it."

Father Ryan got revenge last year in the postseason, beating JPII in the playoffs.

Ben Nixon's 4-yard TD pass to Larkin Kruthoffer in overtime was the game winner. Nixon was 7 of 17 passing for 118 yards. Antwan Roberts had 14 carries for 114 yards.

Father Ryan's D.C. Tabscott was 9 of 24 passing for 133 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

Nolensville beats first Williamson foe

Third-year Nolensville collected win No. 1 against a Williamson County rival on Friday night with a 13-8 win over Summit.

"That's a big program win to beat a Williamson County school," Nolensville coach Paul Derrick said. "I'm definitely proud of how we played.

The Knights (3-1) held Summit to just 174 yards of total offense. The Knights' defense included Tim Coutras' fourth interception of the season.

"He's really been working on his craft," Derrick said. "The entire defense as a whole played well."

Sophomore Ryder Galardi was 17 of 26 passing for 218 yards in his third start of the season for Brandon Wharton, who has been out with an undisclosed injury.

Derrick said Wharton is still week to week.

East Robertson snaps Jo Byrns drought

East Robertson coach Chad Broadrick wasn't sure how many years it'd been, he just knew things ended different this year.

But it was a 19-year drought that ended Friday night when East Robertson topped Robertson-county rival Jo Byrns, 22-8.

"I'm happy for our kids and our community," East Robertson coach Chad Broadrick said. "I told the kids all week that we can only control what we've done.

"But this means a lot to a lot of people."
