Case Brought By Parents Of Ooltewah Basketball Player In Rape Case Is Settled Through Mediation

  • Thursday, September 27, 2018

The case brought by parents of an Ooltewah High freshman basketball player who was severely injured when he was sexually assaulted has been settled through mediation.

Former Circuit Court Judge William "Chink" Brown said in a filing in Federal Court that it had been settled.

Federal Judge Sandy Mattice has recently dismissed portions of the lawsuit that was filed against the Hamilton County Schools and several school officials.

The school officials had been dismissed from the case.

Authorities said senior players used a pool cue to insert in the rectum of some of the younger players while the team was staying in Gatlinburg for a Christmas basketball tournament.
