Summertown girls run away with first golf title; Signal Mountain edges Alcoa on boys side

Summertown dominated the TSSAA small school girls state golf championships on Thursday at WillowBrook Golf Club in Manchester, winning the program's first golf title.

Summertown shot 313 for the two-day tournament to win it by 30 strokes over L&N STEM from Knoxville. Sale Creek was third with a 345.

Summertown sophomore Kaley Campbell won the individual title, shooting a 4-over 148 for the 36-hole tournament. Campbell shot 1-over on Thursday. She finished third with a 16-over a year ago.

Signal Mountain's Lindsey Hollis, who was the defending individual champion, was second at 10-over. Madilyn Newman of L&N STEM was third at 13-over.

On the boys side, Signal Mountain edged defending state champion Alcoa by three strokes. Signal Mountain finished with a two-day 615. Alcoa had a 618. Trinity Christian was third with a 630.

Alcoa junior Braedon Wear shot 3-under for the second straight round to win the tournament with a 6-under for 36 holes. Wear tied for fifth a year ago. Cascade's Evan Woosley-Reed was second with a 2-under. 

Gatlinburg-Pittman's Ethan Hays was third with a 1-over. Defending state champion Gabriel Hunter of Alcoa finished fourth at 2-over for the tournament.
