High School Football: Week 10 Top Performers

Here are the top high school football performers from Week 10 of the regular season:

 

OFFENSE

Tamarious Brown, Bartlett. Brown was his QB’s favorite target in a 27-7 triumph over Millington, catching two of his three passes for touchdowns. On defense, Brown made five tackles, with one sack and a fumble recovery.

Robert Giaimo and Melvin Turnage, Bartlett. The Panther duo combined for 133 yards rushing and a TD apiece in a 27-7 victory over Millington.

Ty McNeal, Bartlett. McNeal was 10-of-23 passing for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers’ 27-7 win against Millington.

Maurice Howard, Cordova. In a 48-3 victory over Arlington, Howard had seven carries for 119 yards, including a 54-yard TD run.

Justin Lynn, Cordova. Lynn was one of three quarterbacks for the Wolves and he didn’t disappoint in a 48-3 victory against Arlington, throwing for 143 yards and two TDs.

Cailon McGhee and Damario Richards, Cordova. On a night where eight different receivers caught passes in a 48-3 win over Arlington, McGhee and Richards led the way with 71 and 86 yards, respectively, and a touchdown apiece.

Austin Wiley, Cordova. Wiley scored his team’s first TD on the ground and threw for 110 yards, in addition to one more score, during a 48-3 win over Arlington.

Ke’Shun Gant, Covington. One of the area’s top rushers in 2017, Gant has battled back from injury and rushed for a season-high 92 yards on 19 carries in Thursday’s 27-6 victory over Crockett County.

Marcus Hayes, Covington. The Chargers beat Crockett County Thursday, 27-6, and Hayes was a big reason why, rushing 18 times for 145 yards and one touchdown.

Brock Lomax, Covington. Lomax continues to make one of the state’s top Class 3A teams go, rushing for 43 yards, passing for 53 yards and accounting for two touchdowns in a 27-6 win Thursday at Crockett County.

Joseph Welch, ECS. Welch led a well-balanced scoring attack, running for one TD while throwing for another in a 34-7 win over Harding Academy.

Dawson Williams, ECS. Williams showed why he’s the Eagles’ top receiver, making six catches for 97 yards and one TD in a 34-7 victory against Harding Academy.

Cole Putnam, FACS. The Crusaders dropped a 24-14 decision to St. George’s, but Putnam played well with 128 yards on the ground, 114 through the air and a 28-yard TD pass.

Marciano Taylor, Harding Academy. Taylor was a bright spot in the Lions’ 34-7 loss at ECS, rushing 24 times for 95 yards and one TD.

Ethan Burns, Houston. The Mustangs won a Region 7-6A championship with a 40-6 triumph over Collierville and a huge game from Burns, including 251 passing yards, three TDs, one rushing TD and one receiving TD.

Grayson Hitt and Jordan Monk, Houston. The Mustang receiving duo of Hitt (95 yards and two TDs) and Monk (108 yards) stood tall in 40-6 victory over Collierville. Hitt also threw for a score.

Lincoln Pare, Houston. Pare ran with purpose in a 40-6 win against Collierville, carrying the ball 27 times for 157 yards and one touchdown.

Sky Forrest, Lausanne. The Lynx registered their 35th consecutive victory (41-14 at USJ) behind two rushing touchdowns and 90 yards passing from Forrest.

Eric Gray, Lausanne. Gray took his high-octane show on the road, fueling Lausanne’s 41-14 victory against USJ with 12 carries, 214 yards and four touchdowns (62, 50, 17 and 6 yards).

Hunter Kendall and Johnathan White, MUS. The backfield duo helped the Owls jump out to an early advantage against Douglass with three first-quarter touchdowns. Kendall and White combined for 83 total rushing yards in the eventual 57-0 victory.

Sellers Shy, MUS. Shy maintained his hot hand through the air, completing 9-of-13 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns in a 57-0 win over visiting Douglass.

Dakota Braswell, Olive Branch. A 17-0 MHSAA Region 1-5A home win over Lake Cormorant was punctuated by 17 carries, 119 yards and two touchdowns from Braswell.

Gary Banks, Olive Branch. The Conquistador running back had 18 attempts for 94 yards in a 17-0 victory against visiting Lake Cormorant.

Elijah Mills, St. Benedict. Mills carried the ball 16 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-21 road win over Ezell-Harding.

Kai Norris, St. Benedict. Norris caught seven passes for 129 and two TDs, as the Eagles defeated host Ezell-Harding, 41-21.

Isaac Smith, St. George’s. Smith caught eight passes for 110 yards and one touchdown in a 24-14 win over FACS.

Spencer Smith, St. George’s. In leading the Gryphons past FACS 24-14, Smith threw for 157 yards, ran for 81 yards and accounted for two touchdowns.

Mac Fullen, Tipton-Rosemark. Fullen, a junior, became the school’s all-time leading rusher, carrying the ball 16 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns in a 16-7 victory over Jackson Christian. He also eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season and now has 51 total career touchdowns (49 on the ground).

DEFENSE

Dorius Bell and Philip Thompson, Bartlett. In a 27-7 victory over Millington, Bell and Thompson each contributed six tackles for the Panthers.

Omari Thomas, Briarcrest. Thomas has 8 tackles and a forced fumble in Briarcrest's 28-14 win over Jackson North Side.

Jared Dawson and Eric Heilman, Collierville. Dawson and Heilman finished their nights with six tackles apiece, as the Dragons dropped a 40-6 decision to Houston.

Jacob Epperson and Evan Lockhart, ECS. The Eagle duo registered six total tackles apiece in a 34-7 victory against visiting Harding Academy.

Carson Evans, FACS. The Crusaders got an all-around solid effort from Evans in a 24-14 loss to St. George’s, with nine solo tackles, two assists and a 28-yard TD reception.

Deion Harris, Houston. Harris led the Mustangs with seven solo tackles and one sacks in a 40-6 victory over Collierville.

Jalen Jordan, Lake Cormorant. The Ole Miss commitment had two interceptions in a 17-0 MHSAA Region 1-5A loss at Olive Branch.

Javien Adams, Olive Branch. Adams kept the Conquistadors rolling towards the postseason with three solo tackles and eight assists in a 17-0 win over Lake Cormorant.

Kado Carr and Tre Phillips, Olive Branch. In helping to blank MHSAA Region 1-5A rival Lake Cormorant, 17-0, Carr and Phillips combined for three solo tackles, 13 assists, 2.5 TFL and one interception.

Wes Smith, St. George’s. Smith was a key contributor in a 24-14 victory over FACS, with two interceptions, including one returned 30 yards for a TD.

Tyler Byrd, Tipton-Rosemark. Byrd recovered a fumble, an onside kick and even rushed the ball nine times for 39 yards in a 16-7 win over Jackson Christian.

J.T. May and Shae Nolan, Tipton-Rosemark. May and Nolan had a fumble recovery and an interception, respectively, in helping the Rebels get past Jackson Christian, 16-9.
