The TSSAA will not punish Montgomery Bell Academy's football program after video surfaced on Twitter showing an MBA football player stomping on the head of a helmet-wearing Brentwood Academy player during Friday's DIvision II-AAA state semifinal.

TSSAA executive director Bernard Childress said he has seen the video, but the association chose not to punish the Nashville private school because it "can't be a Monday morning official."

"We can't go back and watch every video," Childress said.

Brentwood Academy defeated MBA 28-6 to reach its fourth straight Division II state championship game. The Eagles play Memphis University School on Nov. 30 at Tennessee Tech in the DII-AAA championship game.

The player stomped the Brentwood Academy player on the head while the Eagles player was on the ground. The incident happened several yards away from where the play was taking place. Neither player could be identified in the video.

Childress said the game officials did not see the incident and there wasn't an officials report regarding it.

Childress said the high school association notified MBA of the incident. Childress said the school was not aware of the play when notified.

"It was unfortunate," MBA athletic director Mark Tipps said. "It was unfortunate, but the (player) has written a formal letter of apology to the BA football team, and (MBA coach) Marty (Euverard) and (Brentwood Academy coach) Cody (White) have talked."

White confirmed that he had spoken to Euverard and trusted that MBA would handle the situation.

No punishment yet on Hillsboro fight

No ruling has been made involving a fight among Hillsboro football players after their Class 5A quarterfinal 20-19 loss to Beech on Friday, Childress said.

"We are still working with them," Childress said. "The administration is working to make sure they ID everyone involved. We expect that report the first of next week."

Childress said game officials did see the fight and it was included in an officials report.
